Germany Open – Nation Spotlight

We had the pleasure of working with Henning who gave us their time to inform us on the successes and achievements made by the Germany Open Division to date.

The German Open Team sets their sights on nothing less than grabbing the ultimate prize at the European Ultimate Championships 2023. Their goal is clear and unequivocal—to win the whole damn thing. With a fierce desire for victory and a hunger to showcase their skills on the European stage, this team is prepared to leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of glory.

A defining moment in the German Open division occurred when Bad Skid’s dominance was challenged by Wall City, ending their streak. This breakthrough injected a new level of competition into the division, with teams like MUC and Heidees also vying for the top spot. Bringing together players from these formidable teams to represent Germany at European Ultimate Championships adds to the excitement and raises the level of competition even further.

The team has been partaking in intensive preparations. Monthly training camps have allowed the team to gel which was a crucial hurdle to overcome considering almost half the roster consists of new players. The camaraderie fostered throughout various trainings with former rivals has brought a refreshing dynamic to the team. However, the weather has been less than cooperative, providing a perfect training ground for the challenges they may face in sunny, prosperous Limerick. In a humorous twist, the team has embraced the less-than-ideal weather conditions as valuable preparation for the tournament.

Most recently, the German Open Team celebrated a remarkable triumph, clinching the gold medal at the prestigious London Invite tournament, demonstrating their exceptional form leading up to the European Ultimate Championships. With impressive teamwork and remarkable plays, they outshone their competitors, setting a high standard for the upcoming championship and instilling a sense of confidence in their capabilities.

Amidst the excitement of competing on the European stage, the team eagerly anticipates indulging in one particular delight—Guinness! The renowned Irish stout holds a special place in their hearts and is sure to add a touch of enjoyment to their time off the field!

As the team stands on the brink of victory, a fight erupts over the choice of anthem to pump up their spirits. The boys from Berlin champion their love for techno and old-school ’90s house, seeking the pulsating beats that electrify their veins. On the other hand, the rest of the team leans towards the guilty pleasure of bad early 2000s rap. The battle between techno and rap unfolds, with songs like “Lose Yourself” by Eminem or “X Gon’ Give It To Ya” by DMX resonating from their speakers across the fields of Ireland!
